The struggles, both mental and physical, that troops had endured changed their lives dramatically. Many were condemned to a lifetime of suffering as they battled both physical injuries and the demons that haunted them from within.

The Battle of Hamel
The coin’s reverse depicts a representation of a tank being used as a creeping barrage, followed by four Australian soldiers. The design includes a red poppy, the inscription ‘1918 – THE EARTH SHOOK’, a red poppy and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

The Eleventh of November
The coin’s reverse features two Australian soldiers celebrating the end of the war with a clock in the background marking the eleventh hour. The design includes the inscription 1918 – The ELEVENTH of NOVEMBER, a red poppy and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Return to Family
The coin’s reverse depicts the warm embrace shared by an Australian returned serviceman and his family as they welcome him home. The design includes the inscription ‘1918 – RETURN to FAMILY’, a red poppy and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Each of the three coins are struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver, and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The obverse of each coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date, and the monetary denomination.

The three-coin set is presented in a round plastic tray which fits inside a beautifully illustrated shipper featuring First World War photography, and is accompanied by a booklet containing information and imagery from the Great War. The booklet contains a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
